5mm pivot diameter · 12 ceramic balls · 1/16" ball size
Swapping to Skiff Workshop bearings is one of the most noticeable upgrades you can make to a folding knife: more blade support, less pivot tightening required, and a smoother feel from the first open. Designed and made in the USA.
Skiff Workshop cage bearings are CNC machined from solid phosphor bronze, an alloy valued for its strength, corrosion resistance, and naturally self-lubricating properties. Each cage is designed to hold more balls around the pivot than standard bearings, distributing load evenly and keeping the blade stable under use.
The balls are Grade 5 silicon nitride ceramic, made to within 5 millionths of an inch of perfect roundness. Harder and lighter than steel, ceramic balls generate less friction and maintain consistent performance over time. The balls are captured in the cage and remain free-floating inside for smooth, consistent rotation.

Made my FF x Drop Gent even snappier. Great bearings.
I literally had ZERO complaints with the bearings on my Factor4 UNTIL I got my grubby fingers on a set of these bearings. I was the most skeptical person on earth, how could this knife be ANY more silky, buttery smooth? So I figured I had already spent a heafty bit on the knife, what is a little bit more? (I have real issues with the sunken cost fallacy)
But then I put them in and realized that what I was expiriencing before was more akin to walking across a desert with your eyes taped open during a haboob of unprecedented magnitude then having to sit through a 12 hour marathon of a documentary based on the life of a dental hygenist of a small retirement town in South Carolina.
These little discs with captive, smooth balls increased the perceived value of my WinterBlade Factor4 immensely and immediately! If you are on the fence, take it from somebody who thought their knife was perfect before I went in, these are DEFINITELY worth the money!
Never a bad experience buying from Skiffs. Ben a customer for years now and that isnt going to change.
Very impressed. First time trying skiffs and honestly thought it wasn’t possible for my we high fin xl to get any smoother after I tuned it up. But the bearings improved it quite a bit. Washers are pretty nice too. Nice improvement for my kizer militaw also. Thanks skiff.
